Attribute values were verified against a paper copy of zoning map number 3 and check by the City's planning department.

Completeness report: Zoning is complete for the City of Red Lodge.


Horizontal Positional Accuracy Report:
These data are no more accurate than the Montana Cadastral Database and the GPS road centerline data. The estimated accuracy of the road centerline data is believed to be /- 5 feet. The accuracy of the Montana Cadastral Datase is unknown and is believed to be variable throughout the City. Error estimates from the Geographic Coordinate Database (GCDB), the database used to reference the cadastral data, were incomplete.

These data are made possible by a public/private partnership including the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, several state agencies, local governments, The Montana Power Company Montana/Dakota Utilities, and Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad. The Montana Department of Administration, Information Services Division provides project management and oversight. Most data are being maintained by staff of the Montana Department of Revenue.

Process step:
A paper copy of Zoning Map No. 3 was scanned and georeferenced within the GIS. Initial zone boundaries were "heads-up" digitized from the scanned map and verified for attribute accuracy. Zone boundaries were later adjusted using the most recent version (5/28/09) of the Carbon County cadastral database developed by the GIS Bureau, Montana Information Technology Services Division. Zone boundaries were snapped to parcel boundaries or centered within street right-of-ways.
